It was learned from the Shanghai Survey, Design and Research Institute that Asia's first offshore wind turbine was installed recently, and the 90-meter-high "big windmill" has stood on the East China Sea.
The Shanghai Donghai Bridge Wind Farm under construction is an Asian offshore wind farm consisting of 34 such "big windmills" that will be connected to the grid before the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The 100-megawatt wind farm will provide 100,000 homes with electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 50,000 cars a year.
Donghai Bridge Wind Farm Project started construction in September 2008. The overall planning and design unit is Shanghai Survey, Design and Research Institute. Liu Zhongmin, chief engineer of the Institute, said that the installed capacity of each generator of the wind farm is 3 MW, which is the wind generator with single unit capacity in China; The total weight of the tower is more than 400 tons, the height is more than 90 meters, and the blade length of "windmill" is 45 meters.
According to the project schedule, the first generator of Donghai Bridge Wind Farm was installed in late March this year, and the tower with a height of more than 90 meters has been standing on the East China Sea. Another two generators will be installed in early April, Lu said. Thereafter, these three generators will undertake the preliminary commissioning tasks. All 34 generators will be installed and connected to the grid before the opening of the Shanghai World Expo on May 1, 2010.
Donghai Bridge Wind Farm is located in the East China Sea of Shanghai, on the east side of Donghai Bridge connecting Nanhui District and Yangshan Port of Shanghai, with a distance of 8 km near and 14 km far from the coastline and a sea area of 14 square kilometers. In this sea area, 34 "big windmills" will be arranged neatly with a density of 1 km from north to south and 500 meters from east to west.
The site selection of offshore wind farms in China takes into account many factors: First of all, this area is rich in wind resources, with an average annual wind speed of 8 m/s, while the wind speed required by offshore wind turbines is between 3.5 m/s and 25 m/s. Secondly, the construction conditions are good, and there are abundant materials left when the East China Sea Bridge is built. The sea area has an average water depth of 12 meters. The surface of the seabed is 20 meters of silt and muddy soil, and the deep layer is hard sand, which is conducive to stabilizing the generator base. Lu Zhongmin said that each generator base is 8 60 meters long, 1.7 meters in diameter steel pipe, with strong wind and wave resistance.
The total investment of Donghai Bridge Wind Farm is more than 2.3 billion yuan, and the unit kilowatt cost is more than 23,000 yuan. Lu Zhongmin said that although the one-time investment of the power plant is relatively large, it basically does not consume energy after completion and realizes clean power generation. The design life of the generator is 25 years, and the cost is relatively low in terms of overall service time.
In order to realize grid-connected power generation, offshore wind farms must lay submarine cables, build substations and connect large power grids in addition to installing generators. Lu Zhongmin said that the power plant's submarine cable will be laid in the same direction as the East China Sea Bridge and buried in the seabed sediment. The cable material has the characteristics of seawater corrosion resistance.
In recent years, China's offshore wind power industry has accelerated its development. In Shanghai, in addition to the 100 MW Donghai Bridge wind farm, the sea area near Lingang New City will be planned to build a 200 MW wind farm, and the sea area near Fengxian District will be planned to build two wind farms of 1 million MW and 2 million MW respectively. In addition, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places are also planning to build offshore wind farms.
Zhang Guobao, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission and director of the Energy Bureau, said on the 15th that relevant departments will deploy the planning and construction of offshore wind power.
